Valentine’s Day Shootout Highlights

Making the vision come to life

Let’s Go Girls!

My planning process always begins with a mood board to help nail down my color palette and style for the shootout. This shootout was inspired by one of my new inventory items - the pink glasses. When I first saw these glasses I instantly fell in love with the style. I loved the gold rims, pink ombré and waterfall texture of the glasses. They were beautiful, elegant, unique and fun.

I wanted my content day to be all of those things as well, so I thought a Valentines Day themed photoshoot would be perfect for that. It was easy for me to know that I wanted the beauty and elegance of the shootout to come from the florals, the tablespace and the models. But I questioned how could I make the shootout more unique and fun.

Then it clicked, getting ready photos! Not just your typical getting ready shots of the makeup artist applying the final touches. I wanted to take the bridal party in matching robes, bed photo to the next level.

Imagine entering into the bridal suite and seeing a gorgeous balloon arch with balloon daises hung above the bed with a neon sign that best suites the mood. A tray of mimosa ready to be passed out to the party. A bubble machine running to fill the space making everything a little extra bubbly. Shania Twain “Man! I feel like a woman” is blasting through the portable speakers that the maid of honor brought, and the room is filled with joy and laughter. I wanted my “getting ready” styling to highlight the relationship brides have with their best hype team ever, their bridal party.

I have been following the balloon artist - popfetti.co (she’s amazing, go check out her work) on instagram for awhile, waiting for an perfect opportunity to work with her. To my luck she was free that day of the shoot. So I sent over my watercolor sketch to her and she was just as excited about my styling as I was! Oh man did she deliver! Her work turned out exactly what I imagined.

To add to the beauty of this day, we decided not to limit ourselves to just one bride. We had the bridal party models get into my other wedding dress rentals to snap some photos. It was so empowering watching these women be so confident in their own skin. . There were some serious GODDESS vibes as they worked their magic in front of the cameras!
