Modern Chic Content Day

The Ceremony

The DeSign

Inspiration

Myla the photographer reached out to me asking if I could design a microwedding that featured a long rectangular wedding cake and green Amaranthus florals statement piece. Something different and fun is exactly what I was looking for in my upcoming wedding season. I knew immediately I had to jump on it and make it happen. I designed the whole day with these two concepts in the forefront of my mind. I wanted the overall feel to be modern and chic.

Design

The cake was one of the first parts I designed because I knew it would be the center of attention of the decor. What better way to make it the center of attention than to make it the centerpiece of the table! The jaw-dropping ribbed cake sprinkled in edible pearls and green hydrangea flowers was sitting on a 5ft long and 7 inches wide wooden board. How Chyna, the talented cake artist, from Puffy Clouds Pastry, managed to transport this fully assembled cake in one piece from Olympia to Seattle is a mystery to me.

After nailing down the design of the cake, everything else came seamlessly. I focused on designing the tablescape that would compliment the cake centerpiece. The details of the tablescape featured fruits as decor. To tie in the cake design to the tablescape little pearl pins were used to decorate the green pears on the table. Pearls and pears were also used in the invitation suite design by Creative by Sofiya. To further elevate the fruit decor, grapes were placed into coupe champagne glasses and scattered throughout the table. It also made for a great way to grab a quick snack on the go (as seen in the photo of the bride and groom snacking on the grapes).

Floral Design

When Myla asked for an Amaranthus floral statement piece, I knew exactly who to reach out to! Sarah with Mannette Flower Co, the master of elegant and eclectic floral design. Mannette Flower Co absolutely understood the assignment. The ceremony florals featured a floating installation dripping with Amaranthus. For the bridal bouquet she took a modern approach to a green and white wedding using minimal ingredients, fun textures and unique focal flowers, Anthuriums and Calla Lilies.
